At the Marion Arts Festival, Everyone's an Artist.
The annual creation of a participatory public art piece – known as Art in the Depot – offers every community member the opportunity to contribute hands-on toward the production of a public art treasure. A program founded and sustained by Farmers State Bank, past Depot projects can be seen in Marion’s City Hall, Public Library and Post Office, among other Marion and Cedar Rapids metro area locations.
Our 2012 project will feature guest artists from The Ceramics Center, a Cedar Rapids-based ceramics collective offering a range of programming, including classes for all skill levels, internship opportunities and adult social events featuring both wine and clay.
Pottery wheels will spin and families will get decidedly dirty, all while learning more about Marion's Central Corridor Project. Visit for a preview of what's to come.
Our 2012 Art in the Depot guest artists will hail from The Ceramics Center. Watch to to get a preview of the experiences they'll be facilitating on festival day.
