Our Annual Poster Artwork  >  John Foster

John Foster

Life-long artist John Foster was born and raised in Marion and has been a fan of the Marion Arts Festival since he was a mere lad.

A graduate of Marion High School, John went on to receive a BFA with an emphasis in graphic design from Mount Mercy College. Since then, he's had numerous, cumulative experiences across the design spectrum, including web design, silk screen illustration, as a jack-of-all-trades in-house designer, and as the art director of True Identity. While with TI, John won eight Addys from the Advertising Federation of Cedar Rapids (ADFED), two of which were "Best in Category." Here at the Marion Arts Festival, we are not surprised.

John joined the MAF Advisory Board in 2004, and has been Board Chair since 2006. He has created for our events visual identies that reflect and include all the elements that make the city of Marion and the Marion Arts Festival each so unique from – yet so well-suited to – each other. John's goal was to combine the contemporary class of the festival with the vintage charm of uptown Marion, with the further aim of doing it all through a series of designs that his mother could love. And – reportedly – she does.

John specializes in meeting your graphic, web and print design, and illustration needs.
